The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning a major programme in Varanasi on October 7 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public service, even as the party gears up for an intensive round of organisational and election-related meetings in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 assembly polls.
October 7 marks 25 years since PM Modi took oath as the Gujarat chief minister in 2001, beginning his journey in public office before he went on to become prime minister in 2014. The BJP has been marking the milestone through its month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which began on September 17 and runs until October 17.

In Varanasi, the celebrations are expected to culminate with a large programme at the BJP office, with senior party leaders likely to participate. BJP national president Nitin Nabin is also expected to be in the prime minister’s parliamentary constituency for the October 7 programme.
Religious ceremonies and puja are also planned as part of the celebrations.
Vadnagar-Varanasi Connection
A key feature of the October 7 programme will be the culmination of two Seva Yatras linking PM Modi’s birthplace Vadnagar in Gujarat with his parliamentary constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
One yatra is travelling from Vadnagar towards Varanasi, while a parallel yatra is travelling in the opposite direction. Both are scheduled to culminate on October 7, symbolically connecting the two places associated with PM Modi’s political journey. Seva Yatris participating in the journeys are also expected to join the culmination programmes.
The yatras have been passing through villages and districts along their respective routes, with participants conducting public outreach and service activities. The BJP had earlier announced the Vadnagar-Varanasi and Varanasi-Vadnagar journeys as part of its wider Seva Sankalp campaign marking Modi’s 25 years in public life.
BJP’s UP Election Push
The October 7 programme in Varanasi comes at the end of a packed week for the Uttar Pradesh BJP, with the party set to hold a series of organisational meetings focused on the 2027 assembly elections.
UP BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde, along with the party’s co-in-charges, is scheduled to visit Lucknow on October 1 and 2. A series of meetings at different organisational levels will be held during the visit to discuss preparations and the party’s election strategy.
This will be followed by a two-day Chintan Baithak in Mathura on October 3 and 4, where BJP national president Nitin Nabin, chief minister Yogi Adityanath and senior state leaders are expected to participate.
The Mathura meeting is expected to focus on the BJP’s preparations for the 2027 assembly elections, organisational issues and the party’s broader electoral roadmap. Reports have also said the BJP will review the ground-level situation in the Braj region as part of the exercise.
The party’s decision to hold the strategy meeting in Mathura comes as it seeks to strengthen its organisation ahead of the state election. The BJP’s performance in the Braj region declined between the 2017 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The sequence of programmes effectively puts the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh organisation through an intensive round of meetings and outreach in the first week of October.
October 1-2: Organisational meetings in Lucknow with Vinod Tawde and co-in-charges.
October 3-4: Two-day Chintan Baithak in Mathura involving Nitin Nabin, Yogi Adityanath and senior state leaders.
October 7: PM Modi’s 25-year public service celebrations and culmination of the Vadnagar-Varanasi Seva Yatras in Varanasi.
A proposed programme involving Yogi Adityanath and Nitin Nabin is also scheduled for October 7 in Varanasi.
The timing places the prime minister’s 25-year public-service milestone alongside the BJP’s organisational preparations for the next Uttar Pradesh assembly election. While the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign, its culmination in Varanasi comes at a politically significant moment for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP has described the wider campaign as a month-long effort centred on PM Modi’s journey of public service, development and nation-building, with activities including public outreach, padyatras, bike rallies and service initiatives.
