The Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department organised voluntary blood donation camps across 22 centres in Varanasi district as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, resulting in the collection of 510 units of blood from local residents.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar personally donated blood during the campaign to encourage others to participate. MLA Saurabh Srivastava also took part in the blood donation drive.

Mr Rajbhar described blood donation as a great social service capable of saving lives. He appealed to district residents to ensure that healthy and eligible individuals regularly come forward to donate blood and help raise awareness about its importance in society.

MLA Saurabh Srivastava emphasised that voluntary blood donation is a vital means of serving humanity, noting that there is no artificial substitute for blood. He stressed the crucial role of voluntary donors in maintaining a steady supply for patients in need and urged more people to donate to prevent shortages.

Chief Medical Officer Dr NP Singh praised the enthusiasm and social responsibility demonstrated by citizens participating in the camps organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. He said, “During the campaign, 510 units of blood were voluntarily collected.”

Dr Singh expressed gratitude to all donors, stating that each contribution could be life-saving for patients in need. He described blood donation as a purely voluntary and humanitarian service, appealing to healthy and eligible citizens to continue donating regularly and to inspire others to do the same.

The campaign, organised by the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department, aims to enhance blood availability, promote voluntary blood donation, and raise public awareness. It received wide support from district residents, with many coming forward to contribute.
