Varanasi Gen Z Donates Blood to Mark PM Modi’s Birthday
Varanasi witnessed a youth-led blood donation drive on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, with the Gen Z Wing of Antyodaya Parishad organising a camp under the name ‘Modi’s GenZ Blood Squad’. The organisers said the event brought together many young people, including first-time blood donors and first-time voters.
The blood donation camp was held at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) building in Lahurabir. According to organisers, a large proportion of participants were between 18 and 22 years old. The initiative combined birthday celebrations with voluntary blood donation and an appeal for greater participation in social service.
Youth Turn Out For Blood Donation
The event saw participation from young people who donated blood as part of the birthday-related programme. Organisers said several participants were giving blood for the first time.
The campaign was presented as an effort to encourage young people to view blood donation as a form of community service. Organisers also sought to address hesitation and misconceptions that can discourage young people from donating blood.
‘GenZ Blood Squad’ Campaign
The initiative was organised by the Gen Z Wing of Antyodaya Parishad and was titled ‘Modi’s GenZ Blood Squad’.
Council President Mahesh Chand Srivastava said young people have a strong sense of social responsibility and that the campaign was intended to provide them with an opportunity to participate in constructive social activities.
The organisers said the initiative was designed to encourage Gen Z participants to become active contributors to social service rather than remaining spectators at public events.
First-Time Donors Take Part
Several participants reportedly donated blood for the first time. One donor identified as Ayush said the programme initially helped him overcome hesitation about donating blood.
He described the experience of donating blood in connection with Modi’s birthday as significant for him. The organisers said such first-time experiences could encourage young people to consider regular voluntary blood donation in the future.
First-Time Voters Also Participated
The organisers said the camp included not only first-time blood donors but also first-time voters.
They described the combination of civic participation and voluntary blood donation as a way of encouraging young people to take part in social activities. The event therefore linked the birthday programme with a broader message about youth participation and community responsibility.
Youth Use Gen Z Expressions
Participants also extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Modi using expressions associated with Gen Z culture.
According to organisers, some young participants referred to Modi as “OG”, “Greatest of All Time” or “GOAT”, and “Legend”. These descriptions reflect the views and language used by participants at the event and are not independent assessments.
Certificates Presented To Donors
At the end of the programme, certificates were presented to the blood donors. Organisers said the certificates were particularly intended to recognise first-time donors and encourage continued participation in social-service activities.
The organisers also thanked the blood donors, medical personnel, IMA officials and volunteers involved in conducting the camp.
Birthday Events Across India
The Varanasi blood donation programme forms part of a wider series of activities being organised around Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17.
The BJP has announced a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17, featuring blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns, tree plantation and other public-service activities across states. Two motorcycle yatras connecting Vadnagar and Varanasi are also scheduled as part of the programme.
The Varanasi initiative, meanwhile, placed young blood donors at the centre of the local programme, with organisers presenting voluntary donation as a practical form of social service.
