Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: The water level of the Ganga has been continuously declining at a rate of 1 cm per hour. The water level has dropped by around 12 cm in the last 12 hours and was recorded at 68.57 metres, around 1.69 metres below the warning level of 70.262 metres. As the water level recedes, large amounts of silt are accumulating along the ghats, affecting movement and the use of the ghats. Boat operations in the Ganga remain suspended, affecting boatmen and tourists.
