Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: On Dussehra celebrations at Maldahiya crossing, MoS Ravindra Jaiswal says, “The historic festival of Dussehra is being celebrated at Maldahiya crossing in Varanasi, a tradition that has continued in Kashi for nearly 80 years. Today, the city of Lord Bholenath is immersed in the spirit of Lord Ram. People are chanting Lord Ram’s name as Ravana’s effigy is burnt. Along with this, we are also burning the Ravana of evil thoughts within us. Just as people united with Lord Ram in the interest of the nation, today Ravana, symbolising anti-national thoughts, is being burnt in the same spirit.”
